The Site

In the extreme south of Sicily, facing the sea of Punta Secca, stands the 'Capo Scalambri' homestead. At the foot of the Iblei Mountains, the peaceful environment, surrounded by sandy dunes, pine trees and crystal sea, with its mild climate and warm African breeze, make one's stay particularly pleasant. The 5 ha homestead is a few km from Santa Croce Camerina. Fruit and vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, courgettes, aubergines, cucumbers, melons and watermelons, are cultivated in greenhouses and can be bought directly from the farm.
How to Get There:


By car, from Catania, drive along SS 114 Catania-Ragusa state road, then take the provincial road for Marina di Ragusa and the coast-road for Punta Secca. The homestead is easily reached from Ragusa, Vittoria, Comiso and Donnafugata railway stations.
Accomodation:


Guests are put up in characteristic cottages and small apartments dotted in the green countryside. Built in the early `80s, the rooms vary in size, have modern furnishings and all mod-cons. The homestead sleeps 30 in total. Easy access for wheel chairs. There is an equipped campsite for camping and caravanning. 'Capo Scalambri is open from june to September, minimum stay five days. The homestead celebrates Ferragosto (the Mid-August holiday) with a memorable dinner organised for guests.

Sport & Activities:


'Capo Scalambri' is equipped with a bowls ground and a safe playground for children. Life at the farm is mainly outdoor, and one can watch farming activities. The beach is nearby with clear blue water full of fish and, apart from swimming, it is ideal for fishing. Being so close to Africa, bird-watching is particularly interesting, as one can see various species of migratory birds. Lastly, it is possible to go for invigorating walks through the characteristic dunes, that make this extreme coastal point so fascinating. It is possible for both children and adults to rent bikes at the homestead.

Per gli ospiti del Camping Park è in funzione un locale di ristoro specializzato in grigliate. L'azienda organizza anche serate gastronomiche a tema che inevitabilmente si trasformano in momenti di grande allegria e divertimento.

What to See:

There is a whole host of tourist attractions around. Worth visiting and numerous in their examples, particularly of Baroque and neo-classical architecture are Ragusa, Modica, Noto, Vittoria and Comiso, plus the famous Castello di Donnafugata, the Necropoli di Pantalica and the Pantani di Vendicari nature reserve. One can also visit the archaeological sites of Caucana and Camarina, popular tourist destinations for their archaeological museums and necropolis.
