The Site

In the splendid bay of Brucoli, in an area characterised by many necropolis, stands the Tenuta di Roccadia', surrounded by citrus orchards, olive trees and market gardens. It is possible to buy extra-virgin olive oil, fruit in season and optimum `limoncello' and `mandarinetto' liqueurs.

How to Get There:

By car, from Catania-Siracusa SS 114 state road, exit at the Carlentini-Brucoli fork and head toward Carlentini. After 8 km follow signs for the homestead. Busses to Carlentini stop outside the homestead. The homestead is 3 km from Lentini railway station and 30 km from Catania Fontanarossa airport.

Accomodation:

Ten double rooms have been restored with ensuite bathrooms and heating in an early 20" century building. The furnishings are typical local style. A lounge is available for guests. Easy access for wheelchairs. The homestead is open all year round, no minimum stay required.

Sport & Activities:

The homestead has a large swimming pool, a horse riding centre and a five-a-side field; it is possible to do archery; go trekking or mountain biking. Tennis courts and other sports facilities are 3 km away. For the less sporty, the homestead organises cookery, ceramics and painting courses on request for small groups.

The Cuisine:

The menu proposed by `Tenuta di Roccadia' embodies the best of the Mediterranean gastronomic tradition. Among the pasta dishes, the tastiest ones are `pasta del mediterraneo' and `pasta alla norma'. Main courses include barbecued lamb and sausages with different sauces. For dessert, the typical Sicilian `cannoli' stuffed with sweet `ricotta' cheese.

What to See:

The splendid Siracusa is 35 km away; the suggestive Necropoli di Pantalica is 18 km away; the long Ionian beaches are 8 km away for those who love the sea. Among events not to be missed is the festival of S. Giuseppe in Carlentini, Easter Monday celebrations in Lentini and autumn festivities held at the farm the first Sunday of November.
