This 22 ha homestead is at the foot of Mount Etna and has a magnificent
view over the green Plain of Catania. Surrounded by lush vegetation,
including secular climbing and ornamental plants, Alcala' grows
mostly oranges. It also grows olives, fruits and vines, producing
excellent wine. It is a very peaceful ventilated area. In summer
the climate is refreshed by a nearby artificial lakelet surrounded
by majestic trees. English and French are spoken. Freshly picked
citrus fruits, home-made preserves and extra-virgin olive oil
can be purchased by mail and are express delivered. It is possible
to rent mini-buses for small groups of guests at the homestead.

By car, from A19 Palermo-Catania, exit at Motta
S. Anastasia junction heading for Catania, take the SS 192 and follow
the signposts to the homestead until the 78`" km is marked, where
you come to a private road. Follow it for 1.5 km, and at the end
you will come to the homestead. From Catania bus station take the
A19 towards Palermo and come off at Motta S. Anastasia. From the
airport, head west on the A19 towards Palermo.

Guests are put up in recently refurbished comfortable
houses dating back to the early 20`"century. Of particular interest
is the large suggestive winery and cellar that is used for parties
and banquets. Four apartments are available for guests, sleeping
14 in total, all nicely furnished with ensuite bathrooms, kitchen,
heating and panoramic terrace, nice for evening relaxation. It is
the perfect place for long stays.

Table-tennis, mountain-bikes, swings, slides and
kids bicycles are available at the homestead. The place gives itself
to bird watching around the artificial lakelet, the streams and
field tracks across the farm. There is a horse riding centre and
a golf course not too far away.
Alcala' serves guests platters of delicious local
cuisine, skilfully made with farm produce. You must try the scacciata
(flat loan with vegetables, arancini di riso (fried rice balls),
polpette al limone (lemon meat balls), involtini di tacchino (turkey
rolls), crostata d'arancia (orange pie) and gelatina di mandarino
(tangerine jelly). Courses in traditional cookery are held.
The Carnival of Misterbianco, in February; the medieval
festival and the folk festival in Motta S. Anastasia in August.
For sea-lovers, the marvellous beaches of the Plaia 14 km away.
The active Etna volcano is a popular tourist destination all year
round, thanks to the ski resort.
