The Site

Santa Maria Xilona is a part of Sinagra, within the Nebrodi Regional Park. The homestead, covered in an oasis of greenery; is 8 ha in size and it organically grows fruits, vegetables, olives and hazelnuts, produces extra-virgin olive oil, all of which can be purchased. It is the ideal destination for who wishes to spend a peaceful vacation far from the noise of the city, and enjoy a quiet place in touch with nature. In the immediate surrounding area one can take a refreshing bath in the clear waters of a quaint little lake.

How to Get There:


By car, from the A20 Messina-Palermo highway, exit at Brolo, then take the SS 113 state road for Palermo and after some 4 km, at Ponte Naso, at the fork, follow signs for Sinagra. Once beyond the village of Sinagra, drive along the provincial road for Sinagra-Ucria until the fork with Maimone: from here follow the signs to the homestead. Capo d'Orlando railway/bus station is 10 km from the homestead.


Accomodation:


The old building, dating back to the `20s, was restored in 1990/1. It is a pretty building, with an enchanting view over the surrounding countryside. It has 5 rooms (maximum 21 beds), all spacious, light and well equipped, with kitchen facilities, bathrooms, independent heating and separate entrance. The ground floor has wheelchair access. Two apartments are equipped with wood ovens. A lounge is available for the guests. The homestead is open all year round.


Sport & Activities:


At the homestead one can play table-tennis or bowls. The nearby lakelet is walking distance, and you can idle away your time with a fishing rod. At 2 km there is a horse riding centre with excellent instructors, a tennis court and a swimming pool. The coast between Brolo and Capo d'Orlando is 18 km from the homestead.


What to See:

Taormina, home of many cultural and musical events throughout the summer is 60 km away. The great Gole dell'Alcantara gorges, with icy waters and very fascinating cascades, that draw thousands of visitors a year, are 50 km away. Whereas the Nebrodi Regional Park is the ideal place for nature lovers who can find an unspoilt environment rich in vegetation. In the nearby seaside towns and villages numerous folk festivals and craft fairs are held, and typical local products are on sale. Half an hour's drive from the homestead you come to Santo Stefano di Camastra, the city of ceramics
