The Site

The homestead is set in the midst of a valley cultivated with durum wheat and with a eucalyptus wood, 550 m a.s.l. Excellent olive oil, vegetables for homestead cooking, durum wheat and fodder are grown organically and certified by Ecocert. Cattle, horses and courtyard animals are bred.

How to Get There:

Bycar; from A19 Palermo-Catania highway exit at Resuttano and turn right heading to the village. Turn left 100 m further, where you see the sign post for the homestead, the homestead is 6 km further.

Accomodation:

Guests are put up in an 18" century recently restored farmhouse. There are several independent apartments available - sleeping 30 in total - a lounge with a fire place, billiard table, readers' corner, a hi-fi, and a typical dining room; simple though the exterior may look, the interior it houses is harmonious.

Sport & Activities:

The homestead has a sports centre with stone stables and standard steeplechase field, floodlit tennis court, a wonderful swimming pool and a beautiful playground for kids. Furthermore, it is possible to do archery and the area is full of game. Less than half an hour's drive away is Piano Battaglia ski station, with its panoramic view of the sea and of Mount Etna.

The Cuisine:

The menu includes fresh home made pasta with dabs mushrooms and wild asparagus, broad bean and pea soup with `ricotta' cheese, toasted piglet, lamb 'alla contadina', `falsomagro alla siciliana' (Sicilian stuffed meat roll) and, for dessert, cannoli or chocolate roll stuffed with sweet `ricotta' cream.

What to See:

Alimena, Petralia Soprana and Petralia Sottana, Gangi, Polizzi Generosa are all in a 25 km radius. Their churches, monuments, aristocratic buildings and intact town planning are evidence of ancient history and culture, while the flowered balconies in the humble yet proud stone dwellings and the orderly clean narrow lanes show an unusual image of Sicily.
