Antico Feudo San Giorgio can accommodate up to 50 guests in its apartments, junior suites and rooms divided in two levels and all different each other as they have been built out of the refurbishment of the farm warehouses.

 

For its position among the natural Madonie Park, Antico Feudo San Giorgio represents the ideal departure point for hikers, trekkers and bikers, who can easily organize daily walks and excursions in the surrounding places of naturalistic and artistic interest. Inside the farm house, guests are provided with panoramic swimming pool (16 x 8 metres, 52 x 26 feet) and big solarium, bowls field under the shadow of trees, table tennis in the play room, open air kids playground, complimentary mountain bike usage for boarding guests only. It’s possible to participate in seasonal harvests of wheat (july), grape (October), olives (November) and vegetables. Restaurant ingredients come mainly from the farm with typical and genuine fares (mushrooms, boar, chestnut, wild vegetables, ricotta cheese); upon reservation cooking courses and participation in bread baking and ricotta cheese production are possible.

Born from a rib of the homonymous farm (located in the Polizzi Generosa area, in the heart of "Madonie natural reserve" in Palermo province) that is built on the ashes of feudalism as well as 19th century country house of the "Fatta della Fratta" family. In the following years the impressive farm, still existing, has been built, surrounding a typical Sicilian courtyard "U' Bagghiu", developing on the pattern of the fortified "masseria" around a big courtyard with the typical pebbled pavement divided in squares. Inside the courtyard, lots of warehouses are currently used as farm holidays guesthouses, thanks to a careful and courageous refurbishment work, that has not changing the original image of the building. For the perfect climate and soil features, the area has always been devoted to the crop of hard wheat and forage, but the extension of the property has made possible also the cultivation of broad beans, peas, chickpeas, lentils, tomatoes, melons, vegetables as well as olives and grapes. From 1994 has started the conversion of farm to organic cultivations under the supervision of the bodies officially appointed by Italian agriculture ministry to certify the organic farm producers.

The accommodations (units name are derived from the ancient uses and areas of the fief) are furnished in a country yet elegant style and provided with all the comforts.

The restaurant, set up in the woodshed, can accommodate up to 100 patrons, and, during the summer, lunch can be served in the panoramic terrace. Due to his uncontaminated scenery in which mother nature and human beings blend one each other in harmony, Antico Feudo San Giorgio is well suitable for any kind of reception.

 

Tourists willing to not limit their holidays to relax in the country can plan endless excursions suitable for all needs. Art enthusiasts may reach the historical centres of the small picturesque towns in the "natural park of Madonie", only few kilometres away: the old town of Polizzi Generosa (notable the former Jesuits monastery, the Archaeological museum, the "mother" church and the naturalistic museum of Madonie, the "Petralie" twin towns "Sottana” and “Soprana” with their peculiar architectures, monuments and noble residences, Gangi (its must see includes Capuchins monastery, cylindrical tower, Ventimiglia tower, Sgadari building, Santa Maria Maggiore church, Santa Maria della Porta, Benedictine monastery). For the nature enthusiasts (hikers, trekkers, bikers) it is possible to choose, according to the time available for the excursions, among the various paths and uncontaminated locations of the natural Park of Madonie (the giant hollies of Piano Pomi leave the visitor in total wonder): Piano Zucchi, Piano Sempria, Pellegrini path alongside Mount San Salvatore up to Madonna dell'Alto at 1819 metres above sea level, Piano Battaglia up to Pizzo Carbonara at 1912 metres, Ungulate path from “Bevaio del Faggio” up to Piano Zucchi, “Madonna degli Angeli” valley. Worth mention is the visit of the salt cave in the outskirts of Petralia Soprana. Upon request we can provide authorized tour guides for naturalistic and artistic excursions.

We are at kilometre 46 of the state road 120, easily reachable from every part of Sicily and only 4 kilometres from Tremonzelli exit of the Palermo - Catania highway, halfway between the two city. The farm complex, where the apartments and the rooms are located, could be easily found through a simply practicable private unmade road 3 kilometres long.
