`Villa Dafne' is about getting back to nature and rediscovering
rural life as it used to be, walking up to the dawn chorus, going
for long walks in the fresh sweet smelling air, being nourished
with genuine fruits of the land: this is about the most relaxing
and peaceful vacation to go on. The homestead is surrounded by
thriving green countryside, rich in old lodges, tracks and sheepfolds,
evidence of bygone rural life. The main activity on the farm is
animal breeding, sheep, goats and horses. Olives, vegetables and
almonds are grown with care and attention. Ricotta and other cheeses,
organically grown vegetables and almonds are sold direct on the
farm.

For those who love walking in the green thriving
countryside, with its tracks and sheepfolds, old farmhouses and
rustic stone shelters still used by man and animals, at `Villa Dafne'
you can go hiking, mountain biking and horse riding with expert
guides. A secure playground is available for kids. A tennis court
is 1,5 km from the farm.
The cooking is delicious and rustic, making use of
all farm produce, from vegetables to goats milk, using Grandma Giovanna's
antique recipes. At the table it is possible to try ricotta and
other cheeses, olives, mushrooms, omelettes with vegetables, fresh
home made pasta, mixed roast, pork sausages, roasted vegetables,
preserves and the typical almond pastries, scattati and buccellati,
all washed down with excellent local wine. On Sundays the homestead
makes ricotta according to traditional techniques, which can be
sampled by guests on home made bread.
The churches of Sant'Anna and S. Giuseppe and the
Madonna delle Grazie sanctuary in Alia are worth visiting and, above
all, the Grotte della Gurfa caves, a beautiful example of ancient
rock architecture. Culture enthusiasts can enjoy numerous trips:
`Villa Dafne' is between Palermo, Agrigento and Cefalù therefore
it is possible to discover the ruins of ancient civilisations or
head towards Palermo.
